On a hot day, the maximum temperature of the day reaches 30°C or more. Hot days occur more frequently in lower-lying areas during the summer months.

Extreme heat can become a burden for vulnerable groups of the population, especially if it lasts for longer periods and continues at night (tropical night). In recent decades, hot days have become more frequent. As a result of climate change, the number of hot days will continue to increase over the course of the 21st century.
