Starting in May 2025, MeteoSwiss is gradually making its data accessible as Open Government Data (OGD). The available data can either be downloaded manually or obtained automatically as files.

We start with the ground-based and homogeneous measurements and the numerical weather forecasting model. Additional datasets will be released in the following months. The expected quarter for each dataset is announced below.

We are also working to enable access to certain data through individual API queries. However, this option will not be available before 2026.

Available datasets from May 2025

Ground-based measurements

Automatic weather stations – Measured values

Temperature, precipitation, wind, sunshine, humidity, radiation and pressure – every 10 minutes, hourly, daily, monthly and yearly

Automatic precipitation stations – Measured values

Precipitation – every 10 minutes, hourly, daily, monthly and yearly

Automatic tower stations – Measured values

Temperature, wind, sunshine, humidity and radiation – every 10 minutes, hourly, daily, monthly and yearly

Manual precipitation stations – Measured values

Precipitation and snow – daily, monthly and yearly

Totaliser precipitation stations – Measured values

Precipitation – yearly

Pollen stations – Measured values

Pollen concentration – hourly and daily

Meteorological visual observations

Visibility, current and past weather, ground conditions and clouds – between two and eight times per day, monthly and yearly

Phenological observations

Phenophases of 26 plant species – yearly

Climate data

Climate stations – Homogeneous measurements

Temperature, precipitation, wind, sunshine, humidity, radiation and pressure – daily, monthly and yearly

Climate precipitation stations – Homogeneous measurements

Precipitation – monthly and yearly

Forecast data

Numerical weather forecasting model CH1 – Grid data

Forecast of temperature, humidity, precipitation, wind, pressure, geopotential, evaporation and radiation with 1 km grid size for the next 33 hours – updated every 3 hours, available for the last 24 hours

Numerical weather forecasting model CH2 – Grid data

Forecast of temperature, humidity, precipitation, wind, pressure, geopotential, evaporation and radiation with 2.1 km grid size for the next 120 hours – updated every 6 hours, available for the last 24 hours
