Future climate change in Switzerland

According to current climate scenarios, Switzerland as a whole will become much warmer in the future. The warming will most likely be somewhat more pronounced in summer than in other seasons. Whether at the end of the 21st century it will amount to a plus of 1.5 °C or 5 °C compared with today will depend considerably on future global greenhouse gas emissions. The effect on precipitation is still very uncertain. For most seasons and regions precipitation may increase or decrease. In summer, however, a substantial decrease in precipitation is to be expected for all of Switzerland from the middle of the 21st century onwards.
