Affected area: the northern side of the Alps and the Alpine north slope, in particular the central and eastern parts.

Note: while this event had relatively small impacts in Switzerland, it had devastating effects in other parts of Europe, namely in Germany, Austria, the Czech Republic, as well as in Russia.
