COSMO examples (Live)

The probabilistic forecasting systems COSMO-1E and COSMO-2E offer the possibility of deducing information on the predictability of the forecast. In addition to the examples of probabilistic products, below are two regularly updated graphics for precipitation totals, as well as one showing the probabilities of exceeding various threshold values.

Precipitation, 24-hour total

Total precipitation in the past 24 hours, as per the time displayed in the top right of the graphic (in red).

Precipitation, 48-hour total

Precipitation, 24-hour total, probability of exceeding various threshold values

The maps generated with COSMO-2E indicate the probability (as a percentage) that particular precipitation levels (30 mm, 50 mm, 80 mm or 120 mm) will be exceeded at a particular location within 24 hours. The relevant time period is displayed in the top right of the graphic (in red).
