Call for Proposals
Within the framework of GCOS Switzerland, MeteoSwiss provides targeted support to projects of national partner institutions that contribute to the implementation of the GCOS Implementation Plan and the GCOS Switzerland Strategy 2017-2026 (see also GCOS Switzerland Strategy). For that purpose, MeteoSwiss regularly issues calls for proposals. Detailed information on the open call for proposals is provided below.

Who is eligible?
The call for proposals is open to all national institutions in Switzerland. It primarily addresses institutions that can demonstrate extensive experience in climate system monitoring and research in Switzerland.
How is the proposal evaluated?
The Swiss GCOS Office conducts the formal evaluation of the proposals. If all formal criteria are met, the GCOS Switzerland Steering Committee (StC) evaluates the content of the proposals according to predefined evaluation criteria.
What are the timelines and next steps of this Call for Proposals?
a) Publication of the call during the months of October/November
b) Submission deadline for projects: end of January
c) Evaluation of the proposals and decision of the awarding projects by GCOS Switzerland StC in spring
d) Start of projects: 1st August
What is the maximum duration of a project?
The duration depends on the scope of the call for proposals, as defined by the StC. Details are provided in the respective call for proposals.
How will the StC monitor the project progress?
The partner institution has to submit a final report at the end of each project. In addition, it is required to provide a short progress report to the StC by July 31 of each year.
